Facial and neck exercises seem to be a forgotten part of the anatomy. And yet we use these muscle groups as much if not more than most other muscle groups in the body.
In similar fashion to the Fingers, Hands & Wrists, facial muscles are effected by diseases like Parkinson's & Strokes. Loss of use is most frustrating and embarrassing. A few minutes a day in front of the mirror – or even without the mirror – will pay handsome dividends.
Posture: Sitting, Standing, Lying.
Breathing: In through nose. Exhale from mouth.
Relax: All Facial Muscles.
Muscle Groups: Facial and Neck.
Suck in strong and then blow out even stronger.
For sufferers like Parkinson's, use a candle to measure improvement in the exhale of air.
At least 15 – 20 repetitions.
Posture: Sitting, Standing, Lying.
Breathing: In through nose. Exhale from mouth.
Relax: All Facial Muscles.
Muscle Groups: Facial and Neck.
Give the largest most expansive smile possible. Then the other extreme – a strong perking of the lips.
Use the inhale & exhale to increase the intensity. At least 15 – 20 repetitions.
Posture: Sitting, Standing, Lying.
Breathing: In through nose. Exhale from mouth.
Relax: All Facial Muscles.
Muscle Groups: Facial and Neck.
The big yawn is normally the easiest of all these movements.
Follow this by blowing out (exhaling) but keep the mouth open. This will place more tension on the jaw muscles. At least 15 – 20 repetitions.
