You should avoid whatever may be responsible for making GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) any worse.
• | Forward bending over or lying flat may cause GERD symptoms to worsen;
• | Using a stack of pillows is not the answer, as it will cause a bend at the waist;
• | Exercise, but not close to bedtime as it may make the symptoms worse;
• | Belts or clothes should be loose fitting, especially around the waist area;
• | Place blocks or bricks under the legs or frame at the "head" side of your bed to raise that end by 15 – 20 cms. – recommended as a last resort. |
